Hesburgh Libraries

Irish Studies

The Hesburgh Libraries has one of the most extensive Irish studies collections in the world. In support of the Keough-Naughton Institute of Irish Studies, the collection includes books and other materials on many disciplines with particular strengths in Irish language and literature, Irish literature in English, Irish history, music, folklore, sociology, religion and art.

In addition to scholarly books and journals, the library holds literary and artistic works, primary sources and many ephemeral materials in its Irish Studies collections. There is an extensive microform collection, a DVD collection, and large collections of pamphlets and other ephemera. Rare Books & Special Collections has an Irish manuscript collection.

Online resources extend the collections beyond the library walls, and our holdings include all major digitized collections of Irish studies materials.

The Irish Studies librarian, Aedín Clements, is always happy to provide guidance to individuals or to classes.
