Cultivating Community: Stories from Special Collections

The Delirium of the Brave: Sacrifice for the Soul of the Irish Nation explores how failed rebellions against British rule inspired a powerful legacy of Irish patriotism, cultural revival, and the pursuit of independence. Drawn from Hesburgh Libraries' world-class Irish Studies collection in Rare Books and Special Collections and the University Archives, the exhibit features items that document the heroes, martyrs, and idealistic men and women who helped forge modern Ireland.

The Notre Dame Arts Initiative has awarded 38 grants to foster sustained growth in the arts through partner programming for the inaugural Notre Dame Arts Biennial, scheduled for January through June of 2027. Awardees include 16 regional community partners, 19 campus units, and four Notre Dame Global locations, with another 60 campus units and external organizations involved as collaborators. In addition to funding, partners receive administrative support from Arts Initiative staff for planning, implementation, and promotion.

Notre Dame Rome and Hesburgh Libraries have entered into a collaborative agreement to support staffing, technological enhancement, and operations at the Notre Dame Rome Library, located in the Via Ostilia facility, and to foster partnerships with academic libraries and institutions across Italy.
