Web and Information Technology Systems
The Web and Information Technology Systems Department is part of the Information Systems and Access Division. The department insures smooth operation of the Aleph ILS (integrated library system--SFX Find Text Service, Metalib metasearch tool, and other relevant applications) for the Michiana Academic Library Consortium (MALC) libraries. Department members assist in planning, coordination, and implementation of ILS development with the vendor and the MALC community. They serve as members of Aleph Working Group which plans, coordinates and prioritizes ILS work, and recommends major enhancements. The department works closely with all library departments for needs assessment and workflow design related to the ILS. Members work in cooperation with other campus units to coordinate and implement the use of the ILS software to manage non-traditional collections. The department participates in Aleph 500 Users Group in cooperation with other North American libraries, as well as interacts with international Aleph users through participation at the International Consortium of Aleph Users (ICAU) meetings and Ex Libris Systems Seminars.
The Library Web Department's mission is to enhance the usability of digital library services and collections by exploring, creating, maintaining, and improving frameworks for the University of Notre Dame community.
