This set of four bookmarks serves as a playful reminder of the importance and value of our library collections. The messages speak to Notre Dame's strong sense of tradition, with the aim of deepening our collective respect of, and care for, our library collections. The bookmarks are available at service points throughout the libraries; please take a moment to seek one out and enjoy using it to gently mark your spot!
The bookmarks were initially designed by Brian Sailer, a preservation student employee in the summer of 2001. The first run of 6,000 bookmarks was letterpress printed by hand onto Stonehenge paper by Brian Sailer and Jessica Marvel. They were trimmed, finished, and provided with custom display trays by Theresa Sherman, preservation student employee. A second larger print run, employing four-color offset lithography and a slightly modified design, was facilitated by the Notre Dame Media Group (then University Communications Design) in 2002.
