  •         On Monday, March 9th materials from the Audio Visual Service area will be recloated from the 2nd floor to the lower level and is scheduled to be completed by Friday, March 13th.

The materials that will be relocated to the lower level are VHS tapes, DVD's, and non-music CD's (ie. audio books, poems. lectures). This will remain a closed collection.

There will also be 4 personal viewing stations in the lower level for patron use.

The Renner Audio-Video Resource Center, located on the 2nd floor of Hesburgh Library, is the primary service point for music, film & theatre reference, sound and video recordings. Staff and student assistants at the service desk will help users obtain materials and demonstrate how to use equipment. Patrons have access to thousands of CDs covering a broad range of music as well as thousands of DVD documentaries, feature films, and popular television shows.

Instructors may place video and audio recordings and music scores on physical reserve for their courses at the Music and Media Center service desk or request online.

Audio and video files can be streamed for course reserves. See Library Reserves for more information.

To borrow CDs and DVDs, first locate the call number in the online catalog, then provide this number to a staff member. Staff can also assist you in locating items in the online catalog.

  • The Audio Collection is predominantly Classical Music but also contains a sizable Jazz and Popular/Rock Collection for listening. The collections are heavily used for classwork, although open for leisure listening. The LP and Audio Cassette collection is a combination of all music along with spoken word (Shakespeare, Poetry, Plays, etc.).

Our Video collection includes everything from feature films, music, Shakespeare, and documentaries for both class, work, and leisure watching. At all times, class work takes precedence over leisure listening or viewing.

Audio Books: There are a limited number of books on CD and Cassette available to students and faculty for a one (1) week checkout.

  • Reserve materials are for in-house use only.
